(I was supposed to post this yesterday, but I fell asleep and forgot all about it)

This week, my original earphones from Sansa got fucked up. Hence, new headphones. They look awesome because they’re huge. I’d like to think that this is my way of saying “I don’t want to hear you talk,” to people. The sound quality’s okay–not what I had in mind exactly, but it’s good nonetheless. Total damage, 700 pesos. Phillips naman eh.

Last week, I managed to pick up a Hunter S. Thompson book. I started reading it and it’s really really cool, but it’s kinda hard to keep up with all the campaign wildness. Still haven’t finished Fear and Loathing because I gave way to read Goodnight, Steve McQueen. Anyway, a couple of hours ago I was dazed and loaded while walking at Festival Mall. I just came from Ciciboy’s place to jam with him and Tomi. I stumbled upon another Hunter S. Thompson classic.

Booksale kicks major ass. It’s a bit pricey, 95 pesos, but fuck it–the book is 600+ pages long, anyway. I noticed that in FALOTCT 72‘, The Great Shark Hunt was scrawled across the cover–a week later, I managed to buy a copy of that book. Now with The Great Shark Hunt, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was written in the cover. Does that mean I’ll find a copy of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas next week? That would be fucking awesome!

I was just really happy about my purchases. I moved on further to another Booksale (Festival Mall has two branches of Booksale–on the same floor, about 150 ft apart from each other) it was there that I found the classic Transgressive chick lit Looking For Mr. Goodbar (35 pesos). Woah, this is awesome! There’s another copy of this that I found in Los Banos, but some pages were missing.

Maybe 08-08-08 really is lucky, I mean I found two awesome books already. I’ve been looking for these titles for ages already! Before, I used to buy new books. I’d shell out thousands of pesos to get the titles I want. All of my Chuck Palahniuk novels were bought new, same with my Ned Vizzini’s–and let’s not get started about my 7 Harry Potter books (I’m a huge fucking Harry Potter fanboy, Every release day, expect me to be in line at 5:30 in the morning). But, I guess there’s nothing like finding a used book. The book has a lot of character; it’s old, it’s tattered and nobody wants it anymore. Case in point: this copy of Jack Kerouac’s Book of Sketches.

For the past 2 years or so, I always see this book withering away on the shelf. Nobody bought it because it was almost 800 fucking pesos, so people would just look at it. I think I’ve browsed this book for twenty times already in several different occasions. Well, last night I found this in National Bookstore’s Sale Bin marked down to 100 pesos from Php. 759.00. I can’t possibly pass that up! So, I bought it.
If ever you’re looking at an expensive classic and you don’t have the money for it–just wait. Chances are if nobody buys the book, NBS will surely mark the price down.
