It seems these days that I rely on Post-Rock and Math Rock for kicks. In the male-dominated world of Post-Rock, who would’ve thought that 4 girls (and a dude) from Osaka, Japan can seriously kick ass. Water Fai is inspired by Pele, Pixies, Mogwai, Yo La Tengo, and Animal Collective so it’s no surprise that their mix of psych-pop and post-rock melodies can be oh-so-addicting.

Released in 2006 and re-released in the US by White Shoe Records last March 2008; Girls in the White Dream is divided into 8 songs with a running time of 50 minutes. Yes friends, it’s Post-Rock at it’s finest. This is no kawaii party; Girls in the White Dream is filled with melodic songs mixed with Engrish that everyone seems to love. Yes, Engrish.

It’s kind of comforting that they’re not playing songs which would later appear on Anime Shows. I have nothing against Anime; it’s the cosplay-ing fans that kill me.
