Know Think hails from New Jersey and is my new favorite band. Their four-track EP, Clean Closet would make you want to nod your head as the guitars hit your head. The crazy time signatures remind me of American Football in a more upbeat tempo. The vocals flows smoothly and never breaks out during those throaty screams. The EP is just a blast to listen to. It’s evident that these guys are enjoying themselves as they throw gang vocals and handclaps along with the mix. Definitely my favorite track is Songo, the almost six-minute song that closes the album. It’s as if they recorded it to show off their mad skillz; like they threw everything in the mix without giving a shit.

Clean Closet is a fun and solid release. Makes me all excited for what they have in store for their full length. (link under the cut)

Those Crazy Kinsellas.

I sat in front of the computer today downloading a ton of songs from a whole slew of artists with one thing in common: they all listened to the Kinsellas. Now, I fucking love the three Kinsellas and it’s fun to see new artists continue what the Kinsellas started doing. You know, even though bands like Cap’n Jazz, American Football, and Owls have long been gone, there’s these bands heavily influenced by the Kinsella that keep the Kinsella spirit alive (let’s count how many times I type Kinsella, okay?).

Well, anyway. Yeah, I’ll be sharing these albums that somehow has the same feel of math-y guitars, throaty screams, with in-your-face-emotional lyrics. But that would be later. I just want to post a picture of Mike, Tim, and Nate Kinsella first and bow down to them for being awesome musicians.

Nate, Tim, and Mike… I seriously love you guys.

Here’s Something to Boost Your Music Taste: arthaus*

*arthaus is Tomi Uysingco’s indie-electronica project. Between the times that he goes to school, runs PKI Collective/Commune, and talks to douchebags like me over at YM; he makes sweet electronica music with his bumbling computer at home.

I honestly have been thinking for 10 minutes on how I would describe *arthaus, and seriously I have nothing. There’s a lot of blip-blops electronica things going on (duh?), at times it feels so random but the beats make sense. I guess it all goes down to who’s listening; if you’re smoking with your hands tucked behind your head, then listening to *arthaus might become a serious trip. Wait, even if you’re not smoking, just listen to *arthaus and it will honestly be a trip.

Imagine my excitement when Tomi sends me his Free-for-download 3-track EP aptly titled “Going Places EP.” It took me a while before I finally listened to it (I was heavily blogging last night), but the moment I did, I was fucking hooked. (download link after the jump)
