Review: Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo (or how Judy Ann will one day pwn the universe.)

sssjudyann.jpgJust look at that poster. It looks so happy, and everyone in that poster is filled with joy, and quirkiness, and well… Judy Ann’s awesomeness.

Last year’s biggest MMFF upset was when Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo only bagged the 2nd Best Picture Award whilst that shoe bomber of a movie, Enteng Kabisote 3: Insert useless subtitle here, took on the Best Picture award. Well, nothing right ever happens at MMFF awarding ceremonies, anyway. When the MMFF people solely based the awards for it’s box office earnings, everything went straight into a downward spiral. Star Cinema (obviously, my favorite mainstream film producers) was in rage and even said that they would boycott the 2007 MMFF.

But just before 2006 MMFF rolled out from the theaters; Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo already hit the jackpot as it went past Enteng Kabisote 3’s gross earnings. So, what would the loving people from Star Cinema do? Take back what they said about the boycott and cash-in by making a sequel. A Sequel to a Romantic-Comedy romp… Only in the Philippines!
