Lust, Caution (2007), in a way is Ang Lee’s way of repaying his debt to heterosexual men for previously making a gay cowboy movie. Not that I hated Brokeback Mountain (I actually loved it in a totally non-gay manner). If you’ve seen Jonah Hill’s comment on the deleted scene in Knocked Up (located here), we probably ride in the same boat.
If you’re in for the sex, well you’d have to wait an hour into the movie to get the gratuitous sex that you’re craving for.
Thankfully, Francis and I did not watch Lust, Caution because of the sex. Though, I feel that it was marketed here in our country like those other Asian softcore flicks (i.e. Sex and Zen), but this one has critically acclaimed written all over the poster.
So along with 3 old men (including an old midget) and 2 chicks (who didn’t look indie or artsy enough), we saw Ang Lee’s latest “masterpiece” about sex, love, espionage, deceit, diamond rings, and armpit hair.

Since I was dead bored tonight, I decided to make a mixtape (cd, whatever) for Stef. What was supposed to be a 12-track mix became a 26-track mix. I told her that it would be ready by today. It is ready, and it’s at my Multiply.

3. Bright Eyes – First Day Of My Life
4. Minus The Bear – Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse
5. Death Cab For Cutie – Marching Bands of Manhattan
6. Brand New – The No-Seatbelt Song

23. Lou Bega – Mambo No. 5
24. Edu Manzano? – The Papaya Song

Anyway, a mixtape kinda speaks for itself. The songs should express what you feel or what you want her to feel. But if you’re too bored to analyze every song, I made a couple of reasons why these songs are in the mix, or what made me put it there. Haha!

I figured that the header I had last week was so emo. It doesn’t suit my mood. I’m so giddy and happy right now. It needed to be changed. Plus, Kevin thinks that it’s “bangag” or whatever. It kinda looks fucked up too.
So there, I changed it. I look so happy now. It’s so me. Minus the eternal emo-ness. In fact, I’ve never been this happy. Like, really really happy with everything. And by everything, I do mean everything.
Hay, I should touch my DVDs. I feel so bored to blog. But whatdaheck. I’m online everytime in case she instantly pops out of my YM window. You should talk to me too, if ever you see me online on YM. I’ve got tons of films to watch and review. So, yeah expect it.
I’m too high to blog right now. Hahaha. BRB Laters.
I woke up at 4pm today. All my plans for yesterday pushed through. The Lust, Caution movie with Francis at 12pm (which was beautiful, not because of the sex and nudity but because of solid performances and a wonderful story. review laters.). Then we invaded Tomi’s house for the ROMANTIC COMEDY/HIGH SCHOOL MOVIE MARATHON.
Man, we started at around 5pm watching THE SHAPE OF THINGS. I slept while Francis and Tomi watched the flick. Then it was CAN’T HARDLY WAIT.

Now, you can’t argue with me and Francis when you say that Can’t Hardly Wait sucks ass. Can’t Hardly Wait is probably one of the best teen comedies ever made. It’s sad how the filmmakers went on to create that horrendous Josie and the Pussycats movie.
During dinner, it was Jawbreaker. Which kinda lifts itself up of the genre and creates a dark comedy about skanks, murder and deceit. After Jawbreaker, we bought two bottles and vodka and drank it while watching Ben Stiller’s Reality Bites (I still cannot fucking believe that Ben Stiller directed this movie.) It’s inspiring. Ethan Hawke was inspiring (haha!). As Tomi said it, Tom Dyer was his childhood hero.
After Reality Bites, it was Bring It On. Both Tomi and Francis slept during the movie. Then Perri, Mica, RJ and PJ arrived. After that, it was a big blur.
I remembered arriving home at 8AM. I shoo-ed my brothers who were playing PS2 at my room, and went straight to bed. I woke up at around 4:30 in the afternoon today. I still haven’t touched my Quiapo haul. I should do that tomorrow.
And now, I’m still alive and not sleepy.

Let’s watch Lust, Caution. It’s Ang Lee. It’s Tony Leung. It’s showing, only today (well, maybe. You know how it happens). And did I mention that it’s R-18 and UNCUT? MTRCB only does this once in a blue moon, you know?

Lust, Caution was the first NC-17 film that was widely released since Showgirls. We all know how bad Showgirls was, it’s even bad even though they exposed a tremendous amount of boobs and bush. But trust me, Lust, Caution is beautiful. I’ve read the short story while sitting down at Powerbooks Greenbelt. It’s engaging, and I know Ang Lee would do whatever he can to make this story more powerful on screen.
So later, Festival Cinema 1 – 12:00pm. Expect to see Francis and I inside the cinema. Even though we’re probably the only ones who’s watching it. And after that…
IT’S HIGH SCHOOL MOVIE MARATHON at Tomi’s house!!! Jawbreaker, Can’t Hardly Wait, and many more! No HIGH SCHOOL MUSICALS on this one. We swear.
[FRANCIS IF YOU'RE READING THIS. Let's meet at Festi at around 10am. Wake me up before 9am!]

Uh-oh. Someone’s getting head to head with Superbad!
This looks promising, though. That story, oh yeah. And seriously, it’s John Lloyd and Bea. That tandem never ceases to make my heart beat like a drum (dum dum dum). From Now That I Have You, down to Close To You; they managed to get me paying a hundred bucks to see their film (though I’m not too happy about their shorts on My First Romance and All About Love. I think these two work their magic on full length-features). And this one looks like a serious melodrama, not a teenage budding romance.
Dear friends,
This is my new girlfriend.

Her name is Stef. Be nice to her.

Yes, Francis. I have a girlfriend now. Bleeh.

Ewww. What a boring picture!
[After 10 mins. with Photoshop]

There you go! Much better! Muy bien!
I'm back. Here's my
